I am a multi-faceted creature. Although I have many years of experience as a high level administrative assistant, the creative and performing arts are my passion. I have been a professional dancer for over twenty years, performing belly dancing and Puerto Rican bomba in the NY/NJ area. I spend a lot of time tending my garden and indoor plants, a practice which I find akin to meditation. It has opened my mind to many insights about myself and my life and is a by-product of my quest to become more spiritually evolved and attuned to the vibrations and energies that influence the universe. Currently I design and create note cards, custom invitations, miniatures and ornaments and have recently added quilting to the list of needlecrafts that I enjoy doing. If you share any of these interests or have any questions about any of them, let me know. If I don't have an answer, I probably know where you can find it. I’m also plugged into several different networks that give me access to information about little known entertainment, education and cultural events taking place in the city. I’ll be sharing all of this and more with my listeners. And since I’m Latina, don’t be surprised if the news I bring you has a decidedly Latin flavor. You can contact me by email at gypsiwoman55@yahoo.com. Also check out my blog at www.creative-diva.blogspot.com. Thanks.

BomPlenazo, the biennial celebration of Afro-Puerto Rican music and dance, is taking place in the Bronx from Oct. 7 through Oct. 12, 2008. The concerts and workshops, many of which are free, take place at Hostos College, located on 149th Street and Grand Concourse, with others taking place in the surrounding area. Masters, both young and well-seasoned, in the genres of bomba and plena from Puerto Rico and the NY/NJ area come together once every two years to electrify the city with the ancestral rhythms of live drumming, dancing and singing. I have personally trained and/or performed with many of the artists participating in this event and I can tell you from first-hand knowledge that they are all wonderful. This is an event not to be missed. Special arrangements available for school groups. For a schedule of events and further information, please visit www.hostos.cuny.edu/culturearts.
