    Gibson Les Paul Electric Guitar

The Gibson Les Paul Guitar was a collaboration of guitar great Les Paul and the Gibson Manufacturing Company.  Since its inception in the early 1950's the Les Paul has never fallen out of production or favor with musicians across many musical styles and genres.  The Les Paul's lineage:

    1. Goldtop (1952)
    2. Custom (1954)
    3. Junior (1954)
    4. Special (1955)
    5. Standard (1958)
    6. SG (1961)

Often imitated the Les Paul featured a joint cut neck and body commonly known as a dove tail joint. Gibson tightly wedged the neck and body together and finished the job with a strong adhesive.  In combination with a newer, quieter humbucker pick-up, Gibson sought to grab some of Fender's market share for solid body guitars.  The solid body market was growing and Gibson claimed a spot as a leader in quality, innovation and style.
