"NEXT Decision...BETTER than your LAST" A Sweet Philosophy to Live by... it’s always within reach and never a set up for disappointment. Hi, I’m Zara! Here, you'll learn to live in the present, effectively & productively, regardless of your past experiences or current circumstances. That's what it means to be grown...and Grown IS Sexy! Welcome!

So you recognize that parents fall short…maybe your parents did. To that I say…welcome to the club.
There was only one “Cleaver” family and in order to share their world we had to turn on the fantasy box…television.
I teach a session called, “Your Parents Were Messed Up, They Messed You Up and You Will Mess Your Children Up.” You may think it’s messed up to teach such a class, but keep reading.
The greatest parent will miss something. None of us are perfect. Parents are people too, and all people are still learning. Whatever your parents were or were not, it’s all they knew.
This is a hard pill for some to swallow so if you need to break it up, even grind it down – do what you must, but get this…When 2 people participate in the procreation process and successfully reproduce they can only pass on what they know; whoever those two people are – whatever their parents taught them, whatever values they have, whatever they picked up along the way, whatever is okay in their world.
It would be ideal if we could choose our parents, but it doesn’t work that way (or who really knows, maybe we do choose them). Be grateful for what you got. Whatever good there is in them, find and focus on those things. If you can’t find anything right now, be grateful that they gave you life and as long as you have life you can create your own world.
If you’re having trouble with this, remember that your children will grow up and, despite all the things that you think are crowning you the ‘World’s Best Parent,’ they will remind you of the (1) one thing you were not.
We’re Growing UP Ya’ll!
;-) Zara
