And while it may be, we're fairly certain some will exit scratching their heads and / or pissed as it may not be what they expected. BLADE RUNNER 2049 more deeply explores the philosophical / totemic elements of Phillip K. Dick's sci fi universe far greater than other films such as TOTAL RECALL, MINORITY REPORT, THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE and even Scott's original BLADE RUNNER. But whether that exploration is interpreted by viewers as pretentious or fascinating (we say the later) is a matter of, not unlike with Dick's characters themselves, perception, world view and the baggage the individual brings into the theater along with that tub of popcorn.  Our "QUICK FLIX PIX" NO SPOILERS REVIEW includes film audio excerpts, new and archival interviews with Scott and Villeneuve, a look at the life and legacy of Phillip K. Dick, music excerpts and more.        Rights to all film / TV clips and other audio excerpts held by copyright owners. AND OLDER!) WITH OUR FAVORITE FILM ICONSWhile character franchises are common, it's rare for one actor to portray the same character over decades. As such, to be introduced to a Han Solo or Rocky by a parent; then as a parent to take your children to a new film featuring that performer and character, now with their own children, has proven emotionally unique in films likeTHE FORCE AWAKENS and more. Craig & Jim dissect five such icons over the last 25 - 50 years, relating their initial reactions as well as their (at times surprising) interpretation / opinions of them today. Our “CAN YA’ DIG IT?” interview guests include: * STACI LAYNE WILSON: As a reporter Staci’s worked for SyFy, Yahoo! Movies and Dread Central. Her books include SO L.A.: A HOLLYWOOD MEMOIR. BUT SHOULD!Quentin Tarantino once famously stated "When people ask me if I went to film school, I say 'No, I went to films'". And since the near extinction of the drive-in and inner city grindhouse, those Rite Aid, Wal-Mart and Best Buy DVD dump bins have become the go-to place for those eager to experiment with off-center cinema, ... or at least, for a buck or two, take a flyer on something (major studio or independent) which one may not have otherwise been willing to shell out $20 to see on the big screen, ... especially as each month Netflix deletes more titles from it's queue. Not fans of awards season (intentional or not, they tend to divide films into "important" and "unimportant") we pay tribute to films not necessarily RELEASED in 2016, but which we, through the magic of the cheapie bin, first VIEWED in 2016. Call it an awards show for movies many don't give a damn about. With categories ranging from "Best Remake / Reboot" to "Favorite Film Which the Rest of the World Absolutely Hated", to "Best Cheapie Bin Film of The Year" and more, we just may upend and replace the Globes, Oscars and Razzies. In the process he broke the mold of cliched cuteness inherent in movies and series such as HOME ALONE and THE COSBY SHOW, and helped usher in an era of more "gritty" big screen family fare by others; titles such as MRS. DOUBTFIRE and even CASPER for the first time broaching topics such as divorce, absentee parents, the death of loved ones and more. Craig Jamison & Jim Delaney invite us into an alternately hilarious and heart-breakingly inspirational sit-down with Evans - discussing the creation of THE SANDLOT and RADIO FLYER, his 2007 buried treasure,THE FINAL SEASON,, his upcoming biopic on high school football coach Ed Thomas, and much more. Kinsella, 1989’s FIELD OF DREAMS was the film no one believed in but it’s makers.  On the surface a Kafka-esque fantasy about an Iowa farmer who (against reason) builds a baseball diamond in the middle of his corn field … with existential results, it was underneath a multi-layered examination of the courage it takes to follow one’s inner voice, and a treatise on manhood at the end of the “me generation” 80s.  In celebrating the film’s 25th Anniversary, 12 diverse men from across America (writers, film makers, a comic book artist, actors, restaurateurs and more) step to the plate to take a swing at explaining why FIELD OF DREAMS still grips their hearts and imaginations 25 years later.  Includes film audio clips, archival cast / crew interviews, excerpts from James Horner’s score, and new interviews from the 2014 Father’s Day celebration at the Dyersville farm where the film was shot.    * FIELD OF DREAMS CAST REUNITES FOR 25TH ANNIVERSARY FATHER'S DAY CELEBRATION IN DYERSVILLE:http://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/local/kyle-munson/2014/06/13/kevin-costner-catch-sons-field-of-dreams/10444203/ * Connect with THE GRINDHOUSE: WITH CRAIG & JIM ON FACEBOOK:https://www.facebook.com/TheGrindhouseWithCraigJim * Connect with CRAIG ELLIS JAMISON @ THE GULLCOTTAGE / SANDLOT - FILM BLOG, FILM REFERENCE LIBRARY:http://gullcottageonline.com/ 01:20:00The Movie Sneak PodcastnoFIELD OF DREAMS,FIELD OF DREAMS 25th Anniversary,W.P. Co.  3) It would be one of only two times during the 80s in which Dante would direct a feature outside the Spielberg / Amblin banner.  And as such it would 4) signal the "from then on" advent of a more personal style / stamp on the remainder of the director's film and television work - it becoming more socio-politically aware.  Join us and guest commentator / illustrator Chris Heady for a 25th Anniversy "look back" on the long hidden genius of Joe Dante's THE 'BURBS. Beginning as a gritty police procedural, it maintains it's sense of "happened just across town" reality right up to it's bone-chilling twist climax; one which later thrillers would rip time and again.  Features audio commentary with Dan O'Bannon, Stan Winston, and Freddy Kruger himself - actor Robert Englund, here in one of his first horror roles. * Visit THE GRINDHOUSE: WITH CRAIG & JIM Facebook page @https://www.facebook.com/TheGrindhouseWithCraigJim?ref=hl * Visit THE GULLCOTTAGE / SANDLOT Facebook page @ https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-GullCottageSandlot/129683480458380?ref=hl * Visit THE GULLCOTTAGE / SANDLOT Film Blog, Film Reference Library @http://gullcottageonline.com/ 00:24:00The Movie Sneak PodcastnoBuried Treasure films,DEAD AND BURIED,Dan O Bannon,Ronald Shusett,Stan WinstonAs the coda to our month long Grindhouse / GullCottage listing of 50 "All Time Favorite BFFs (Best Fright Flicks) we arrive at our choice for "The All Time BesBuried Treasure of the Week: COHEN & TATEhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/themoviesneakpodcast/2013/10/29/buried-treasure-of-the-week-cohen-tateFilmhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/themoviesneakpodcast/2013/10/29/buried-treasure-of-the-week-cohen-tate/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/themoviesneakpodcast/2013/10/29/buried-treasure-of-the-week-cohen-tateTue, 29 Oct 2013 12:00:00 GMTBuried Treasure of the Week: COHEN & TATE In this dark mob world variation of O'Henry's THE RANSOM OF RED CHIEF, Roy Scheider and Adam Baldwin portray hitmen charged with transporting a 9 yr. old federal witness 300 miles to their superiors in Houston.  When the boy realizes the two killers don't like (let alone trust) one another, he sets in motion a psychological game to turn them against themselves.  After successess with his scripts to THE HITCHER and NEAR DARK, Eric Red made his directorial debut with this "road trip from hell" which would go on to influence later dialog-heavy "mob chic" films such as RESERVOIR DOGS, TRUE ROMANCE and THINGS TO DO IN DENVER WHEN YOU'RE DEAD.
