On grief talk with Audrey, I bring you experts in the fields of death and dying, grief and loss, hope and healing and those who have themselves been on their own grief journey, to share their experiences and skills to help my listeners and answer your questions.

  • What is complicated grief?
  • How is it different from "general" grief, which seems so complicated in and of itself?
  • Why haven't most people heard of this before?
  • How is this different than depression?
  • What are the signs?

Join me with my guest Dr. Katherine Shear M.D., program director at The Center for Complicated Grief at Columbia University School of Social Work and is the Principal Investigator of the Center's Complicated Grief Research Program at the New York State Psychiatric Institute.

Dr. Shear’s work with complicated grief began in the mid-1990s, when she and colleagues identified the syndrome. She has published more than 250 peer-reviewed papers and numerous book chapters, and she lectures widely, both nationally and internationally. Dr. Shear brings with her Stephanie Mulberg who will share with us her own story of loss, complicated grief and Dr. Shear's treatment program. http://www.complicatedgrief.org/
