Very early in the history of mankind, large bodies of water have played an intricate part in warfare. Giant ships carrying armies out to sea, to face their enemies, one ship against another. Landing troops on the shore to pirate, and pillage. Battles were fought, all on the surface of the waves. It wasn’t until the Civil War, did men fight partially submerged, in under water vessels, for the first time. This broadcast’s discussion will center around four movies where submarines are the core of the film’s historical appeal; from World War II, to modern warfare.
