I referenced a ton of documents in my Foundation Watch article on the inner financial workings of ACORN, so I might as well make them (and others I found in the course of my research) available online. Here goes:
1. The complaint in Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, et al. v. Wade Rathke, et al., being file number 08-8342, Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans, State of Louisiana, is available as a PDF file here: ACORN v. Rathke. This is the legal complaint filed in Orleans Parish, Louisana, by the dissident “ACORN 8.” This cluster of unhappy ACORNs is upset with fired ACORN founder Wade Rathke’s eight-year-long coverup of his brother Dale’s nearly $1 million embezzlement. The plaintiffs had demanded that ACORN produce documents related to the scandal. ACORN refused and continues to refuse. Reportedly the ACORN board had the action dismissed, arguing that the board members lacked standing to take them on in court.
2. “The Corporate Democracy Act and Big Business Day: Rhetoric vs. Reality” (Heritage Foundation backgrounder, March 11, 1980). It was referenced in my American Spectator article Oct. 31 because it dealt with the disdain that ACORN founder Wade Rathke used to feel for “interlocking directorates.” The feeling passed and he later began using interlocking directorates to exert control over the ACORN empire.
3. Prairie Fire, the book, in its entirety. According to littlegreenfootballs it is the Weather Underground’s 1974 communist declaration of war against the United States. Sorry Billy, terrorist groups aren’t entitled to copyright protection.
4. 1999 ACORN Housing Corp. document, “To Each Their Home: Success Stories from the ACORN Housing Corporation,” in which ACORN brags about undermining banks’ underwriting standards by getting them to count food stamps as income: toeachtheirhome
5. Blog entry, “Obama’s Campaign Lies About ACORN,” by Larry Johnson of “No Quarter” blog. The post lists 294 ACORN-related entities that share the same address: 1024 Elysian Fields Avenue, New Orleans, Louisiana 70117.
6. ACORN document listing some of its sister organizations: acorn-and-sister-orgs-address-list-a-z1
7. ACORN position paper endorsing the Fairness Doctrine: acornsupportsfairnessdoctrine1
8. ACORN’s Louisiana nonprofit registration: acornwww400-sos-louisiana-gov_cgibin_baguypkt
9. ACORN’s Arkansas nonprofit registration: acornwww-sosweb-state-ar-us_corps_search_corps-php_as5nez3j
