A complete version of the article from ACORN’s magazine that details the work that Barack Obama did for ACORN has surfaced.

The article, “Case Study: Chicago-The Barack Obama Campaign,” which appeared in the Winter 2003-Spring 2004 issue of Social Policy magazine, was written by ACORN organizer Toni Foulkes.

As soon as ACORN started receiving negative publicity, ACORN denied access to the article. Click on chicago-the-barack-obama-campaign to go directly to a PDF file.

POST SCRIPT later the same day: ACORN is now fighting back, accusing John McCain of hypocrisy for speaking in recent days about ACORN and vote fraud. ACORN produced a photo of McCain at a pro-immigration amnesty event in 2006 that was co-sponsored by ACORN. A press release about the event is here.

Meanwhile, Jake Tapper of ABC News reports that ACORN spokesman Lewis Goldberg is singing like a canary. Tapper links to a New York Times article in which Goldberg acknowledges that Obama conducted unpaid leadership training sessions for ACORN. The NYT article also states:

In 1992, Mr. Obama was personally involved in voter registration efforts when he served as director of Project Vote in Chicago, helping to register 150,000 voters on the South Side. His success was widely written about at the time and credited with helping to elect Senator Carol Moseley Braun, the first African-American woman in the Senate.

Mr. LaBolt emphasized that Project Vote and Acorn were not as intertwined at that time as they are today, when a significant part of Project Vote’s revenues flow to Acorn and various of its affiliates as payment for services.

But according to Sam Graham-Felsen, who blogs on the Obama campaign’s Web site, Mr. Obama himself linked his 1992 work to Acorn in a meeting with Acorn’s leaders in November.

“Even before I was an elected official, when I ran Project Vote voter registration drives in Illinois, Acorn was smack dab in the middle of it, and we appreciate your work,” Mr. Obama said, according to a post Mr. Graham-Felsen made in February.
