Quest 2 tHA Cup : Game 4 The Sharks vs The Canucks
With Patrick Marleau and Joe Thornton dominating all over the ice, Antti Niemi bailing out his teammates on a big second-period penalty kill and all four lines making contributions, the San Jose Sharks looked like a completely different team than the one that opened the Western Conference final with a dud. Marleau scored twice in the first period, Thornton had three assists and Niemi made 27 saves as the Sharks bounced back from a pair of losses in Vancouver to beat the Canucks 4-3 Friday night in Game 3 of the Western Conference final.
“The last two have not been anywhere near par for our group,” coach Todd McLellan said. “So it was nice to see us return to the way we can play.”
Ryane Clowe and Dan Boyle also scored on the power play for the Sharks, who still trail the series 2-1 after winning a conference final game on home ice for the first time in franchise history.
