Singer Avion Blackman had the most unorthodox childhood. Born in the bustling city of San Fernando, Trinidad, Avion lived in luxury as a daughter of world-famous Calypso singer, Lord Shorty. In 1976, Lord Shorty went on a spiritual odyssey. He finally found Christ and went through a completely metamorphosis. Rejecting all of the worldly trappings surrounding him, Lord Shorty got rid of all of his material possessions, donned sackcloth and moved his massive family of 18 children out of their big house in the city to a primitive log cabin in the jungle. From the band Christafari comes Avion Blackman with a sound described as a breezy blend of organic roots reggae with echoes of folk, worship, World, soca, R&B and neo-soul. “Sweet Life.” It's the Wailers meet Sade with an urban flare!
