When Jesus Christ came to "His own, His own received Him not."
This describes the tension that existed at the coming of Jesus Christ to the Old Testament church of the Jewish nation. The synagogue was the 'church' that Jesus came to. It claimed to be the bearer of the torch of religious truth; yet, by the time of Christ, the true religion handed down to Moses had been corrupted by human nature. Jesus was more likely to find common ground with the sinner than with the widely acclaimed "saint" of his day! "WOE unto you Scribes, Pharisees, hypocrites!" was a recurring admonition.
Jesus Christ is returning. When He comes to His people -- the church -- today, He will likewise find the true religion of Christianity corrupted by human nature and false dogmas and doctrines of men. That does not excuse you or me from being TRUE to Christ in these last days though, does it?
What is TRUE CHRISTIANITY? What does it look like? Is it found in a specific denomination? Can it be found outside of the Christian faith itself?
