The French Jihad - Toulouse atrocities - Mohammed Merah murdered three Muslim soldiers, a rabbi and three young Jewish children. He had gone abroad for jihad training, but his actions were inspired by Salafist principles that have currency in France and Europe. Previous calls for jihadists to kill Muslims who serve their countries are recounted. France has a history of blatant Islamist antisemitism - from groups like Kemi Saba's "Tribu Ka" to the Muslim gang killing of Ilan Halimi. French Jews in recent years have been doing aliya, feeling insecure and unprotected. The anniversary of the end of Algerian war is mentioned by some leftists as a "motivation" for the recent atrocities, but Merah's crimes went beyond nationalism. The attitudes of the offspring of Algerians have already caused shock, with Samira Belil's account of gang rapes in ghettos leading to formation of a group called "Ni Putes ni Soumises" to end the violence aginst women, so common in French North African ghettoes.
