Over a Glass of Wine

There's a reason why employers put new workers under a 90 day probation. It's because they know that most people can only keep their game face on for a short duration. Eventually that mask comes off and the truth of their personalities are revealed. They also understand that the excitement of being in a new environment along with meeting new people makes the average person be on their best behavior.

This is also true about new relation-ships. I like to break the word relationship into two parts: relation and ship. The word relation symbolizes when two people are drawn to one another because they can relate through some common experience such as: attraction, the past, pain, a longing or desire. A ship is a form of transportation that is meant to take you on a journey. Even if this ship is sinking, it is still going towards a destination.

Due to our lower nature, we are commonly attracted to others out of the need for romance or to be loved. This is because we are designed by Love and it is at the root of our being. In order for you to learn certain lessons that will ultimately lead to your highest good... you need others to help you experience these truths. This is the reason why you might be attracted to some more than others because they have been designated to help you in your journey.

Where the problem arises is when we are so consumed with the rush or high of passion, we do not take the time to ask one important question:

1. Why has this person come into my life? Am I the teacher or the student?

Knowing the answer to this question BEFORE intimacy takes place will save you from the hardships of Brand New Love.
