Two most important things a person should know about event sponsorship are; plan events that you are passionate about and treat sponsors honestly.

Author Roberta Vigilance self-taught herself how to plan events and secure sponsors.  She established Vigilance Style & Grace in 1999, an event planning company that specialized in networking-events.  She worked relentlessly and persistently to implement events that helped others.  She coordinated seminars, fashion and talent shows, open-mics, contests, and other events that educated, showcased, and networked upcoming talents and models; for all age groups.  In the process of coordinating these events, Roberta needed funds to cover the costs for the events.  She thought of and solicited businesses in her community then large corporations to cover the cost of each event in exchange for getting their brand up close and personal with her events' audience.  She later learned that the process was called sponsorship! She made many mistakes at first; such as: not knowing at what stage to promote the event, what to do after the event, how-to approach companies, among many others costly mistakes.  With time and experience, Roberta learned what to say and what to do and secured sponsors that span the gamut from King Bravel Records (Jamaica) and Tommy Hilfiger to Modell's and Rite Aid.  Roberta shares her successful experience with upcoming and established event promoters and planners, business owners, entrepreneurs, and other professionals How To Plan Sponsored Events Effectively & Secure Sponsors Successfully
