Bill Grant; received a BSBA degree from Boston College with a major in accounting. After completing six months of basic training at Fort Dix, NJ and advanced training in the Signal Corps at Fort Gordon, GA he returned to Massachusetts and served the next five and one half years in the Yankee Division of the Massachusetts National Guard and United States Army Reserve. While with the National Guard he attended the Massachusetts Military Academy and attained a commission as a second lieutenant. He also began evening studies for the CPA examination at Bentley College in Boston while working for national, regional and local public accounting firms. After passing the exam he started his own practice and operated it for about ten years. Seeing how the latest accounting software could help his clients, he became a QuickBooks Professional Advisor and integrated this technology with the professional tax preparation services he was providing. In addition, he became affiliated with a broker/dealer in Boston as a registered representative, having passed the Series 6 and 63 examinations. This enabled him to sell mutual funds to his clientele. Bill has also taught accounting and related subjects at several junior and community colleges throughout Boston and has been an instructor with a private corporation that provided job training programs to individuals entering and advancing in the workforce, and has taught an income tax course for one of the largest tax preparation companies in the country. Today he operates Grant Consulting and provides tax preparation, accounting systems implementation and training and financial strategies services to individuals and small businesses in Massachusetts and beyond. His political activities include being elected to the Boston Ward Six Democratic Committee, delegate to the Democratic State Convention and candidate for state representative from his district.
