Kristi Bonney chooses to Live and Love Out Loud in every way and with her recent discovery she is doing just that.

 

The recent discovery has to do with the C-word.... Cancer. At the tender age of 19, Kristi discovered her first lump whilst watching an episode on Oprah about breast cancer in young women. Kristi says, 'I didn't pay much attention to the episode itself really. I remember just being shocked that these young women on television had or were battling breast cancer. I remember Oprah emphasizing the importance of young women performing regular breast self-exams and thought to myself ~ well, what's stopping me from doing one now?"

 

She examined herself and to her shock and horror felt a marble-like lump in her left breast. After tests and Dr's appointments, the lump that was removed had atypical cells which had a higher risk of becoming cancerous in the future. Upon removal, they discovered that it was still benign; no cancer present.

 

Now at 37 Kristi has found a new lump. As a mother of 4 and with a lot to live for Kristi says she is, 'crazy scared but is not going to curl up in bed and cry all day. I'm strong and determined and downright stubborn. And I'll be damned if I let some breast lump steal my joy. As far as I'm concerned, the only choice I have in this moment is to soldier on.'

 

Through this Kristi is planning to Live Outloud and share her journey in the hopes of joining many others who are bringing awareness to women's cancers.
