No one would suggest that a diabetic rely on prayer exclusively without their insulin. Heart disease isn’t a character issue. Sadly mental illness is still a taboo subject … especially in the minority community. Yet, mental illness is real illness – and it needs to be treated as such. It isn’t a source of shame or embarrassment. It is time to end the stigma.
In this special hour-long episode, I will speak with clinician and professor Jean Day. Both of us have grappled with depression and both of us have first-hand experience with the assumptions and sterotypes that accompany a discussion of mental illness with family and friends.
This show is for everyone. The stigma of mental illness isn’t just limited to minority communities. We’ll have vital information that I want to share with everyone.
