THE ENTRENCHED EFFECTS OF THE SUB PRIME DEBACLE ON LATINOS AND BLACKS After the largest growth in home ownership in history during the last 15 years, blacks and Latinos are now suffering their largest loss in wealth in modern history. And that erosion of wealth could lead to a second collapse in the national economy. Lost homes, shattered dreams, displaced families, destroyed careers , suicide, abandonment, setbacks. All carnage of the housing meltdown felt in loud reverberations throughout the Latino and Black communities. Targets of sub prime predatory lending tactics on the front end, victims of the greed of a callous industry on the back end, Blacks and Latinos have been impacted more than any other ethnic group by the sub prime mortgage meltdown. And and reverberations continue to be felt as you read this Wealth, contingent upon an industry that one could easily argue had a premeditated agenda to rob and destroy at the outset,now completely wiped out. Its much much deeper than the loss of a home for Blacks and Latinos.This caustic backlash has boarded up entire communities, stripped thousands of jobs and set back an equal number economically, socially, and personally. Our show tonight will not scratch the surface, instead , it will dig deep down to the core of the impact the sub prime debacle has had on Blacks and Latinos today.
