Thursday September 7, 2012 KXRW'S own "Your Community Connection"presents..."Gena's Groove Theory"tonight @11:00 pm (pst). Host Gena, a mother of two, and a community awareness activist, brings a subject that is close to her heart... "Who is raising our children?" Over the past few decades the governing of our children have been interrupted by state and local officials and law men, as well as the police, are intervening in our personal lives and taking the rights of parenting in their hands. As a young girl growing up I can remember my great aunt saying "if you don't discipline your kids the police will!"  And as is seems her words have come true and in our faces.. Now, with the Travvon Martin case, where a civilian acting as a vigilante for the community he resided, according to reports, an unstable man by name of Zimmerman shot the hooded teenager,  and now stands on trial for his death. Now, I ask why is that like in the Anaheim Ca officer involved shooting of a young man brings to light, Do we take control of our children's fate ( who love them) or leave it to the police or anyone else to lay them down on the streets like animals? Child abuse is a major issue and the more we go into the new future it's becoming a casual past time... The killing of unarmed young man & women, tonight Gena will ask parents who is really in charge? The kids or the parents or the ones who are willing to assume that they are criminals, and have the right to use deadly force... Come and join Gena and lets put down our prideful ways and address this... Is it any difference between a gang member shooting and killing our kids, or is dying at the hands of the ones who are in place to protect and serve? Call (347)327-9517
