Hezekiah Griggs, III, age 22, has been called “America’s Youngest Media Mogul.” Born into poverty and homelessness, Griggs’ story is not unlike that of many young people in America today. Raised in the hardened inner cities of Northern New Jersey, this young man rose above his circumstances and has already proved to the world that his talent, drive, and ambition will lead to success after success. Griggs was just seven years old when he was paid to videotape a church service. Each week thereafter, he videotaped the Sunday sermons, selling copies for $15 each and averaging 100 tape sales every week. This budding videographer-turned-visionary quickly earned the title of founder and president of Griggs Cinematography, a company he ran for 3 years. Building on his successes, Griggs started consulting for well-known companies that were eager to reach an increasingly sophisticated youth market. He helped these companies identify new ways to connect with and market to youth like him. With each new venture, Griggs saw an opportunity to make his life and the lives of those around him better. At age 14, this young man founded Justice Inc., an organization focused on bringing attention to the economic, political and social issues around the world. With the launch of TRUE (Teens Reaching for a Unified Era), a monthly journal modeled after Time Magazine, Griggs gave voice to his peers with news articles written by teen journalists living in the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. When the magazine grew in popularity and circulation soared, Griggs secured corporate advertisers to cover costs and generate revenue.
