With Special Guest Zac Fitz-Walter – Gamification Guru in User Experience and Mobile Technologies

In this episode of Gamification Talk Radio, we’ll be discussing the concept of gamification, and how to design it effectively in your applications.

Games are an engaging and captivating medium, and serious games - those built for a purpose other than entertainment - can be used to educate, inspire and train a target user base.

Monica and Zac will give you:

  • An overview of gamification and it's current use
  • The top things you need to be careful of when designing
  • Real-life gamification used to engage university students and learner drivers

Described as Gamification or gameful design, Zac’s work in this area has indicated positive results encouraging people to engage with non-game activities.

About Zac:
A gamification guru, Zac is currently researching gamification as a PhD student at the Mobile Innovation Lab, Queensland University of Technology (QUT). His expertise lies in user experience and mobile technologies. In his spare time he has worked on iPhone design and development for various research and industry projects.

Zachary has also been tutoring and guest lecturing at QUT since 2007 for a number of subjects including Interaction Design, iPhone Development, Design for Interactive Media and Advanced Web Design.

He runs a publishes a weekly gamification newsletter http://gamificationweekly.com and co-founded the Gamification Meetup Group in Brisbane, Australia (meetup.com/Brisbane-Gamification-Meetup/).

Also, he's a massive fan of board games (especially the super nerdy German ones).
