(1) that sugar addiction is real, (2) that sugar addiction is a serious medical issue, and (3) that everyone must know about the reality of sugar addiction. Coordinator Jill Escher dreamt of launching SAAD as she wrote her tell-all book, "Farewell, Club Perma-Chub: A Sugar Addict's Guide to Easy Weight Loss," in early 2011. She put together a team eager to spread the word about this widespread but largely unrecognized disorder, and picked the day before Halloween as the appropriate kickoff. "Refined sugar, the addictive cycle it creates, and diseases of high blood sugar are now so commonplace we're blinded to the strangeness of it all," says Jill. "But the day we take Sugar Addiction seriously is the day we finally begin to turn the obesity and diabetes epidemics around." A press release is available, below, with a list of outstanding media contacts knowledgeable about today's sugar addiction epidemic and happy to share their expertise. The list includes physicians, researchers, nutritionists, noted authors, and recovered addicts. For general questions, please contact: firstname.lastname@example.org.
