Gary has earned the moniker of Mr.Music by his fun and impressive live shows. He first started in the 60's with a rock n roll band called "The Cosmic Rays". Eventually they competed in a battle of the bands in Pittsfield,Maine, which they won. Gary played in bands throughout the 70's and 80's. The most memorable was a 5 year stint in the late 80's with a Country band named, "Borderline Express" which was based in Madison,Maine. During that 5 year run they won Downeast Country Music Associations, "Most Promising Band". The following year they won Vocal Group of the Year, Duet of the Year, and Rhythm Player of the Year.
In 2012 Gary was presented the MCMA trophy as the Solo Artist of the Year and in 2013 DECMA awarded him the Yodeling Slim Clark Award.Gary has organized annual fundraisers for Maine's homeless veterans.
Carolyn Hutton started singing gospel music with her family in North Carolina as a child. Years later after her own children were mostly grown she formed a gospel bluegrass band called "Silver and Central". For three years she played mandolin for an all female folk band called "Bliss". She then joined Mac McHale from Bangor,Maine to form"Taylor's Grove". Carolyn teaches at UNH now and plays guitar and mandolin for the band,"Drowned Valley" She co-hosts a monthly bluegrass jam in Rollinsford NH. Gary and Carolyn have enjoyed practicing and preparing for the Unity College Center for the Performing Arts concert March 19th. They are ready to put on an amazing program of Rock,Country,Bluegrass,Gospel.
