H.R. 1 - American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 has passed the house today and it was riddled in pork ridden fat in my opinion. Included questionable highlights are: $335 million STD education $650 million Digital TV Coupons $50 million National Endowment for the Arts Democrat Congressman David Obey, Chairman of the Appropriations Committee on the House Floor today said "People ask well what does funding for the arts have anything to do with jobs? It's very simple, people in the arts field are losing their jobs like anybody else." I don't have a problem with them getting money but you know, it shouldn't have been in this bill. Do you know with $50 million dollars you can give that to the SBA to lend small dollar amount loans or grants to sole proprietorship small businesses. There are literally thousands of businesses who make too much to qualify for some of the plans in this stimulus package. Of course if they just shut down their business, then they can probably get some food stamps and other assistance. But what is wrong with giving people a hand up instead of a handout? I can guarantee you that you would stimulate the economy much more if you focused on those types of small business owners The bill or package they were talking about in the house was about 674 pages, I don't know where to locate the one that was agreed upon, but I found this link and hoping it has the key points to it. Once you're on that page, look for the "full bill text" link and that will open it up http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-h1/show I'll be running my radio show this Saturday. I hope you will join me on sharing your thoughts about how you as a small business or working class citizen feels about this plan. If you are one of the have nots, this show will be for you. Thank you! ps. I'm really upset at how the Democrats carried themselves during this supposedly bi partisan planning session. I feel let down, lied to by some of the democrats but even worse? I think they are making our President Obama look bad and I'm not happy with that. This was a time for everyone to come together and work for the people. I'm putting David Obey on my kitty litter list. He is one of them that is not a team player and he contributes to the peoples perception that Congress is not about CHANGE
