    Microsoft is demonstrating continued progress towards the Business Ready Security strategy with the release of two new security solutions: Forefront Threat Management Gateway 2010 (TMG) and Forefront Unified Access Gateway 2010 (UAG.) These solutions address two key endpoint security challenges. TMG, available for evaluation and purchase now, helps companies provide safe employee web browsing. UAG, which will release to manufacturing in mid December and be generally available shortly thereafter, enables organizations to give employees (and trusted partners and vendors) secure remote access to corporate resources.

    Karanbir Singh is the project lead for the CentOS-5 distribution. He also helps within the CentOS core tream with overall project and infrastructure management. In the 5 years that Karanbir has been a part of the CentOS team he has been instrumental in building communities around the project and getting wider commercial acceptance for the distribution. Karanbir has over 13 years of experience in Linux and open source technologies. He presently works in London as a consulting sysadmin, focusing on emerging technologies in the infrastructure provisioning and management sector.

    Tom Kemp is President and Chief Executive Officer at Centrify, where he is driving the strategic direction of the company. Centrify is a security software vendor that delivers auditing, access control and identity management solutions that help you centrally secure your cross-platform systems (e.g. Linux, UNIX, Mac, VMware, etc.) and applications (e.g. SAP, Apache, etc.) using Microsoft Active Directory. Previously Kemp was Entrepreneur in Residence at Mayfield, a leading venture capital firm. Kemp was a co-founder of NetIQ and in his last position there served as Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Development. Other positions held by Kemp in his nearly eight-year tenure at NetIQ included Senior Vice President and General Manager of its Performance and Availability Management business unit; Senior Vice President of Products; and Vice President of Marketing. Prior to NetIQ Kemp held various management, technical and marketing roles at Compuware Corporation, EcoSystems Software, and Oracle Corporation. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science and in history from the University of Michigan.

    Dr. John Busch is a co-founder of Schooner Information Technology. Prior to Schooner, Dr. Busch was Research Director of Computer System Architecture and Analysis at Sun Microsystems laboratories from 1999 through 2006. In this role, he led research explorations in chip-multi-processing, advanced multi-tier clustered systems for deployment of internet based services, and advanced HPC systems. Dr. Busch received the top President’s Award for Innovation at Sun, and oversaw many division technology transfers. Prior to Sun, Dr. Busch was VP of Engineering and Business Partnerships with Diba Inc, and was general manager of the Diba Division after Sun acquired Diba in 1997. From 1989 to 1994, Dr. Busch was co-founder and CTO/VP of Engineering of Clarity Software, and led creation of advanced multi-media composition and communication products for Sun, HP, and IBM computer systems (awarded Unix World Product of the Year). From 1976 to 1993, Dr. Busch led many successful R&D programs at Hewlett Packard in Computer Systems Research and Development. Dr. Busch holds a Ph.D. in Computer Systems Architecture from UCLA, a Masters degree in Mathematics from UCLA, a Masters degree in Computer Science from Stanford University, and attended the Sloan Program at Stanford University.

    Frugal Friday with Brocade's Harry Petty

    Harry Petty brings more than 20 years experience to his role as director of product marketing at Brocade Communications. In this position, Mr. Petty is responsible for marketing, positioning and strategic direction for enterprise LAN switching solutions. Prior to joining Brocade, Mr. Petty served as Vice President with Silverback Systems, which was later acquired by Brocade. He has also worked for Chips and Systems, Philips Electronics, NEC, and ZDS. Harry Petty holds a bachelor of science in mathematics from the University of Dayton, Ohio; and a master of business administration from the University of Chicago.
