Sub Topic: Fruit of the Spirit: Temperance

Discussion A Disciplined Life Series: Fruits of the Spirit Part 8 H. Being led by the spirit isn’t just walking around saying “the Lord led me to do thus and so.” Being led by the Spirit of God means developing the very character of God.  Are you a product of the Spirit or just a product of your church?   A good cook knows that when preparing a meal, it is important not to overcook your food, especially fresh vegetables.  The fire needs to be medium not high because you want it to simmer, not fry! So you make sure the fire is “temperate” not too hot, but just enough heat to cook the food to your satisfaction.  This is true lesson of temperance, having the endurance and patience needed in life to sustain us through our fiery tests and trials that we come forth not damaged, but completely whole.

Scripture Text: “He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty: and he who ruleth his spirit, than he that taketh a city.” Proverbs 16:32
