The NCDSV provides and customizes training and consultation, influences policy, promotes collaboration and enhances diversity with the goal of ending domestic and sexual violence. Debby has been dedicated to ending violence against women since becoming a volunteer with the first rape crisis center in Texas. She then served as Assistant Director for ARCC then a co-founder and Executive Director of the Austin Center for Battered Women. These two agencies combined and became known as SafePlace. 

In 1982, she became the first Executive Director of the Texas Council on Family Violence. which grew to be one of the largest state coalitions in the country and is home to the National Domestic Violence Hotline, 1-800-799-SAFE. 

She was the founding Chair of the National Network to End Domestic Violence.  The military community has been an area of focus for her and for NCDSV. She served as Co-Chair of the U.S. Department of Defense Task Force on Domestic Violence.  

Tucker received the National Network to End Domestic Violence’s Standing in the Light of Justice Award for founding the org. and securing passage of the (VAWA).  She received The Sunshine Peace Award and Marshall's Domestic Violence Peace Prize for VAWA and the National Domestic Violence Hotline.
