The Shirley P Cooper Story.
Shirley P Cooper started life as Shirley Lake until she came to England and her name was changed to Cooper.
Then Shirley found out that her second name was Lake so Shirley use all names at different times in her life.
Shirley has been writing, drawing and making things since she was a child and learnt to crochet, knit, plait, weave in the Caribbean, using plants, grasses and waste materials.
After qualifying to teach Secondary and Primary school children Shirley left Worcester College of Education in 1975 and started teaching Needlework and Design along with Social Studies and General Subjects in a Secondary School in Birmingham.
For over 40 years, Shirley has taught Arts and Crafts to diverse groups and also set up Nefertiti Arts and Crafts in the late 70’s and early 80’s where Shirley ran a fabric painting business for many years, selling materials and taught numerous people to teach other crafts.
Shirley is also a survivor and campaigner against child abuse so this is The Shirley P Cooper Story and it is a story not to be missed.
