“The Buddy Beat was formed in September 2007. Born from a music project in Paisley’s Dykebar Hospital, it was set up in Paisley Arts Centre for a six week project. It’s was created to promote social inclusion and aimed to give people who were discharged from hospital a regular weekly activity to go to and enjoy. Now we have recently celebrated 10 years of helping people.
I joined in March 2008 and at that time my mental health was at it’s lowest ebb. I thought that I had no future and was amazed to feel my troubles ease off for a while the first time I tried drumming; it was peace that had escaped me for a long time. Over the years. my self worth and self confidence has returned. I have many great friends now and I volunteer and work part time. I continue to attend for my own well being and now I am the deputy group facilitator.
Buddy Beat gives people hope for the future and is always a great source of fun. I am so lucky that it found me back in 2008.
That might be too long so just cut it wherever you want.
