On May 22, 2011, Joplin, MIssouri was devasted by a super tornado that almost completely destroyed a thriving mid-western community with a rich and storied history. The swiftness, violence and destruction were almost supernatural in scope.
Joplin native, Chip Gubera was on hand mere moments after his town had been reduced to piles of rubble. Undaunted, he caught and captured it all, then editied the footage as a moving tribute to the people of Jopiln. The result, "Joplin, MIssouri - A Tornado Story" is both heartbreaking and life affirming. It serves as a witness to the devastation of the super tornado and to the power of the human spirit in the face of disaster.
Please join me as Chip and the film's narrator, the esteemed George Noory (Coast-To-Coast) talk about the film, what happened and where Joplin goes from here.
You don't want to miss this very important saga of an American town courageously rising from the aftermath of tragedy.
It's good to talk.
