"Anyone who doubts that music is bigger than words needs to read this great tale," says Gregg Allman of The Allman Brothers Band. He's talking about Big in China, Alan Paul's report of raising a family, playing the blues and becoming a star in Beijing. Paul appears Live Thursday, July 14, 2011 on Internet radio's Full Power Living (9 a.m. PT or iTunes subscription).

It began when Paul's wife, Rebecca, accepted the job as the Wall Street Journal's China Bureau Chief. It progressed when he needed his guitar repaired, and resulted in the formation of "Beijing's Best Band," a popular Blues quintet that played the club scene and toured through China. This American abroad chose to burst through the "expat bubble" and thrive by taking full advantage of all China had to offer, now entertainingly chronicled in Big in China. Alan Paul appears July 14.
