Hilary Rose Scales is the Founder of The Knox County Infirmary Restoration Foundation.  She first discovered the Knox County Infirmary when a friend filmed his first independent film Terrorizer at the building.  The beauty and architecture captured her heart right from the start.  After speaking with the owner, she was granted permission to form a group dedicated to the preservation and restoration of this historic building.

Construction for the Knox County Infirmary began in 1875 and took 2 years to complete.  It held the title of the largest building in Ohio for several years.  In the Mid 1950’s, Mount Vernon Bible College took over the building and it was used for a variety of classes until the college moved to a newer, bigger building to fit their needs.  In the early 2000’s the building was rented out as a Halloween haunted house attraction known as House of Nightmares.  The building had been poorly maintained however, and in time, enough damage had been sustained that it was rendered unsafe.  Many years of sitting vacant have contributed to a further state of disrepair.  Restoration will be an enormous undertaking, but Hilary remains hopeful and is up for the challenge.

Hilary is also the Founder of Historic Hauntings & Research, and former Founder of Mad River Paranormal Society.
