    Stafford vs. Sanchez, NFL Draft

"With the first pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions select Matthew Stafford, quarterback, from the University of Georgia."  That statement defined the 2009 NFL Draft, as four picks later the New York Jets selected Mark Sanchez.   The three other top 5 picks went relatively unnoticed.  People don't seem to care about you as a pick unless you are a quarterback...well I mean they care but not enough to talk about you all the time for months leading up to the draft.$0$0$0$0So who is better?  Who will have a more successful NFL career?  Will either of them pan out?  I think that it is safe to make this assumption- Matt Stafford has a bigger upside, maybe more athletic talent, and is an over all less risky pick.  Mark Sanchez is just a charming guy that has unknown potential- he only started 16 games at USC and how can anyone get a proper barring off of that?  Also, many believe that the situation that Sanchez finds himself in with a winning team like the Jets, is more conducive to success than the 0-16 Lions.  $0$0$0$0$0With all of this said, we go back to the Ryan Leaf vs Peyton Manning scenario.  No one could have ever predicted that Ryan would be more famous for not being good than for being good.  If anything, there was probably more doubt and risk with Peyton Manning not winning the big game.  And what about Tom Brady?  Some will say he is one of the all time greats, and he was drafted in the 7th round!  All this shows that it completely a crap shoot.$0$0$0$0$0So much is made of Mark Sanchez's "charm" and personality.  I dont think thats what makes good quarterbacks.  I mean leadership is key- but the greatest QB of all time Joe Montana was just a regular guy, Peyton Manning is just a goofy dude, and Big Ben is a little rough around the edges.  I want to see field talent.$0$0$0$0$0All in all- just forget what everyone says about the Draft.  The NFL Draft is like popcorn- some picks pop, and others don't.  And we have no idea why not.$0$0$0$0$0-cb$0
