Within the Dominionist Movement lies a little talked about, and often overlooked, sect of extremism which has been gaining ground in the Southern and sunbelt states across this nation. The idea of becoming a "maternal missionary" may seem idealistic and even romantic to many a young Christian girl seeking to start a family and settle into a domestic life complete with a beautiful little home and the proverbial white pick fence. Unfortunately, once there she may find that a life of continuous child-bearing and submission is not quite the kind of garden she had hoped to tend to.
In a cult-like society where women are expected to become prolific child-bearers, restricted from any use of birth-control, expected to be in complete submission to their husbands, and to raise their offspring to become warriors for God, Vyckie Garrison lived her life doing all things expected of her. The Nebraska Family Council, 1n 2003, even bestowed their coveted "Family of the Year" award on her family. But, years of oppression and seven children later, Vyckie left the fold.
Tonight, please join Nicole Nichols, Dennis Biancuzzo, Leah Burton, AND Vyckie Garrison for an inside look into this movement as well as a close-up look at some of the front-runners in next year's Presidential and Congressional races and thier ties to this and other Dominionist cults.
