James Lindenschmidt, author of From Alcohol to Alchemy: The Lore and Craft of Mead, is the owner of Bardic Brews (see BardicBrews.net) which he describes as "...a place to explore some of the lost mysteries, techniques, and magic of ancient brewing, and the lore and stories of our ancestors. We seem to be mostly interested meads (as opposed to beers, ales, wines, etc.) these days, so the content of the site reflects this. " In addition to the web site, James also holds periodic mead workshops in his local community, mostly based in Maine but he also travels to present his workshops elsewhere. Currently BardicBrews.net is NOT a commercial brewery, but is counted among a growing number of hobbyist homebrewers. Selling homebrew is still illegal. He does, however, love to share his craft. Your best bet to try one of these brews would be to stop by one of his fireside gatherings some night! Bring your drinking horn if you have one, as well as some of your own brews to share.
