From My Mama's Kitchen Talk Radio

From My Mama’s Kitchen Talk Radio is based on the book - From My Mama’s Kitchen – “food for the soul, recipes for living” by Johnny Tan. Originally intended as a cookbook to preserve his moms’ recipes, transpires into a motherly love-inspired book about his personal relationships with his adopted mom in Malaysia and with eight other wonderful women whom he refers to as “mom” in the United States. Over the years, his mothers were his “team of counselors”who provided him unconditional motherly-love. They were always available whenever he needed them – to talk, get some advice or just to sound off. This weekly talk show hosted by the author, Johnny Tan, pays tribute and honors his moms and moms everywhere for their timeless loving wisdom, spiritual and inspirational contribution in making a positive difference in the lives of their children and their loved ones. It provides a platform for everyone to share their own experiences of “motherly love” on-air with other listeners. With the support of special guests, Johnny’s vision and mission is to educate, entertain, and inspire everyone the significant role mothers’ play in our daily lives and to bring “motherly love” to center stage. What I have learned from my 9 moms – Respect the past, because it is a classroom for lessons learned. Be prepared for the future, because it is my destiny. Always live in the now, because every moment is a memorable experience. – Johnny Tan. From My Mama's Kitchen Recommends... Lisa Nelson RD - Reducing Heart Disease Naturally

Continuing with the theme From My Mama’s Kitchen Recommends… where I am showcasing individuals who are doing extra ordinary things that touched the heart and moved the soul! My guest will be Lisa Nelson. She is a Registered Dietitian and a heart health nutritional expert who was a 1999 Cum Laude Graduate from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Exercise Science. According to Lisa, unfortunately, she has been blessed with crummy genetics. She has a strong family history of heart disease and her own cholesterol level has hovered around 200 since her early twenties. She had a grandmother that died from a heart attack at age 69, a grandfather that died of a heart attack a year before she was born, another grandfather that had diabetes and was legally blind for as long as she can remember and recently didn't recover from a quadruple by-pass surgery, and her remaining grandmother lives with diabetes. Since graduation Lisa has enjoyed working in community nutrition. She worked directly with men and women struggling with weight, elevated blood pressure, and high cholesterol levels. She saw firsthand how important her support was for those under her care to stay on the right track. According to Lisa, “It's one thing to know what you need to do, but it a whole different ballgame when you have to make the changes.” She started a private practice - eNutritionServices in June of 2007. Since then, she has reached a much larger audience and is helping many more people achieve a healthy lifestyle and a new outlook on life! From My Mama's Kitchen Recommends... Deborah Weed - The Luckiest Penny!

Continuing with the theme From My Mama’s Kitchen Recommends… where I am showcasing individuals who are doing extra ordinary things that touched the heart and moved the soul! My guest for this week will be Deborah Weed. She is an artist and the author of a new book, “The Luckiest Penny.” It is a children’s book about having a healthy set of values that will assist them on their journey in life. Deborah’s mission is to share how valuable “life experience is.” According to her; is it better to jump into life, even if it gets messy? Or, is it better to play it safe by waiting on the sidelines, hidden and protected by the walls of our own making, until the journey is over? We need to start talking to our kids while they are still young, about how to make their own luck. It's really simple: if you feel lucky, you are lucky, and especially if we think about all of the blessings that are in our lives. The book’s genre is a fable/allegory and the illustrations are by award winning artist Ernest Socolov. An all original, musical interactive production is being created and produced for The Luckiest Penny. The show should be ready in November 2009. Please call 347.327.9995 to join Deborah and I live on the air Tuesday 10/13/09 from 10-11 am US CDT as we discuss her life’s journey, her new book “The Luckiest Penny,” and her mission to making a positive difference in every children’s life.
