From My Mama's Kitchen Talk Radio

From My Mama’s Kitchen Talk Radio is based on the book - From My Mama’s Kitchen – “food for the soul, recipes for living” by Johnny Tan. Originally intended as a cookbook to preserve his moms’ recipes, transpires into a motherly love-inspired book about his personal relationships with his adopted mom in Malaysia and with eight other wonderful women whom he refers to as “mom” in the United States. Over the years, his mothers were his “team of counselors”who provided him unconditional motherly-love. They were always available whenever he needed them – to talk, get some advice or just to sound off. This weekly talk show hosted by the author, Johnny Tan, pays tribute and honors his moms and moms everywhere for their timeless loving wisdom, spiritual and inspirational contribution in making a positive difference in the lives of their children and their loved ones. It provides a platform for everyone to share their own experiences of “motherly love” on-air with other listeners. With the support of special guests, Johnny’s vision and mission is to educate, entertain, and inspire everyone the significant role mothers’ play in our daily lives and to bring “motherly love” to center stage. What I have learned from my 9 moms – Respect the past, because it is a classroom for lessons learned. Be prepared for the future, because it is my destiny. Always live in the now, because every moment is a memorable experience. – Johnny Tan. From My Mama's Kitchen Recommends... Jane White - The Taming of Corky

Continuing with the theme From My Mama’s Kitchen Recommends… where I am showcasing authors and individuals who have written excellent books and are doing extra ordinary things that touched the heart and moved the soul!

My guest for this week will be Jane Nixon White. She is award-winning poet and essayist, a retired school teacher whose writing crosses genres. Her first book, “Life and Things Like Rocks”, is an anthology of poems and prayers for children. Her other published works include history, plays and her Doctoral Dissertation on student motivation.

Born in Columbia, South Carolina, Jane has called Florida home for 47 years. She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina, and holds M. Ed. and Doctoral Degree from the University of North Florida.

She has been recognized by Poetry.com and the International Library of Poetry as a Top Poet of the Year in 2000, and has been published in Troll Communications’ groundbreaking e-book, “Doughnuts From The Teachers’ Lounge. “The Taming of Corky” is her first novel.

Please call 347.327.9995 to join Jane and I live on the air Tuesday 9/15/09 from 10-11 am US CDT as we discuss her life’s journey, her passion for writing, and her book – “The Taming of Corky” – a wonderful inspirational children’s book about a nine year old boy who survived a plane crash that killed his parents.
