From My Mama's Kitchen Talk Radio

From My Mama’s Kitchen Talk Radio is based on the book - From My Mama’s Kitchen – “food for the soul, recipes for living” by Johnny Tan. Originally intended as a cookbook to preserve his moms’ recipes, transpires into a motherly love-inspired book about his personal relationships with his adopted mom in Malaysia and with eight other wonderful women whom he refers to as “mom” in the United States. Over the years, his mothers were his “team of counselors”who provided him unconditional motherly-love. They were always available whenever he needed them – to talk, get some advice or just to sound off. This weekly talk show hosted by the author, Johnny Tan, pays tribute and honors his moms and moms everywhere for their timeless loving wisdom, spiritual and inspirational contribution in making a positive difference in the lives of their children and their loved ones. It provides a platform for everyone to share their own experiences of “motherly love” on-air with other listeners. With the support of special guests, Johnny’s vision and mission is to educate, entertain, and inspire everyone the significant role mothers’ play in our daily lives and to bring “motherly love” to center stage. What I have learned from my 9 moms – Respect the past, because it is a classroom for lessons learned. Be prepared for the future, because it is my destiny. Always live in the now, because every moment is a memorable experience. – Johnny Tan. From My Mama's Kitchen Recommends... Debora Coty - Mom Needs Chocolate!

From My Mama’s Kitchen Recommends… authors who have written excellent books that touch the heart and move the soul!

Besides being an occupational therapist, a piano teacher, and a freelance writer, my guest for this week – Debora Coty  is also a mom, author, internationally published columnist and a sought after speaker because she is a gifted humorist.

Writing has become a passion and that can be attested by the many hours she spends each week hammering away on her desktop or laptop keyboard.  As a matter of fact, her young adult historical fiction novel, The Distant Shore, which was released August 30, 2007climbed to the top of the VR Publishing best-seller list within three months!

Debora has a real knack for getting across sound biblical concepts with a refreshing lightheartedness as attested in her monthly newspaper column entitled Grace Notes: God's Grace for Everyday Living.

Her new book titled, “Mom Needs Chocolate” has a universal mom appeal. In mom-to-mom, smile-provoking style, Coty paints her offbeat picture of reality with a tangy twist while offering outrageous coping tips, off-the-wall insights, sisterly hugs, and warm encouragement.

With witty frankness and wild abandon, she tackles the extremes of marriage, horror of embarrassing children, defeat (and re-defeat) of depression, aging grossfully (er, gracefully), and a veritable grocery-list of other mud between-your-toes issues.

Debora’s mission is simple: help women hear God’s still, small voice above blathering kids, howling pets, and snarling traffic.

Please call 347.327.9995 to join Debora and I live on the air on Tuesday 8/25/09 from 10-11 am US CDT and have tons of laughs as we discuss her life’s journey, and her new book.
