From My Mama's Kitchen Talk Radio

From My Mama’s Kitchen Talk Radio is based on the book - From My Mama’s Kitchen – “food for the soul, recipes for living” by Johnny Tan. Originally intended as a cookbook to preserve his moms’ recipes, transpires into a motherly love-inspired book about his personal relationships with his adopted mom in Malaysia and with eight other wonderful women whom he refers to as “mom” in the United States. Over the years, his mothers were his “team of counselors”who provided him unconditional motherly-love. They were always available whenever he needed them – to talk, get some advice or just to sound off. This weekly talk show hosted by the author, Johnny Tan, pays tribute and honors his moms and moms everywhere for their timeless loving wisdom, spiritual and inspirational contribution in making a positive difference in the lives of their children and their loved ones. It provides a platform for everyone to share their own experiences of “motherly love” on-air with other listeners. With the support of special guests, Johnny’s vision and mission is to educate, entertain, and inspire everyone the significant role mothers’ play in our daily lives and to bring “motherly love” to center stage. What I have learned from my 9 moms – Respect the past, because it is a classroom for lessons learned. Be prepared for the future, because it is my destiny. Always live in the now, because every moment is a memorable experience. – Johnny Tan. Women Empowerment-Working Moms-The Balancing Act of Motherly Love and Career - Jamie Saloff, Author

Jamie Saloff truly exemplifies the “spirit” and the “law” so to speak, of Women Empowerment - Working Mother – the Balancing Act of Motherly Love and Career.

Happily married to her husband Tim Saloff since 1979, Jamie had her first son Matthew in 1983. Shortly thereafter in 1985, she was diagnosed with cancer. Declared sterile by her doctors, Jamie surprised her doctors when just one month after her last radiation treatment she discovered she was pregnant with her second son Mark, considered their miracle baby, who was born seven and a half weeks early in May of 1986.

In 1990 after her mother passed on and with her personal cancer experience, she began writing her first book on healing, but never found a publisher. As a devoted writer she continued to write resulting in three books: The Collector's Encyclopedia of Cowan Pottery (Collector Books, 1993), The Publishing Center: How to Create a Successful Publishing Center in Your School, Church, or Community Group (Beeline Books, 1996), and Transformational Healing, published in 2005 (Sent Books).

Jamie is also heavily involved as a member in good standing with the Pennwriters Organization since 1993, and has also served on its board. She was presented with the organization’s highest award, Meritorious Service in 2006.

Embroiled in the spirit of entrepreneurship, she expanded her knowledge, and combined with her love of writing by forming her own in-home business where she now serves as consultant, formatter, and guide to authors across the country who want to self-publish their books via Print on Demand.

Over the years, Jamie has hosted workshops, organized conferences, and given talks on a variety of topics, always with the intention of helping others improve their lives. She managed an all-volunteer elementary school writing and publishing center where, with the help of 100 parent volunteers, they annually produced over 500 child-written books each year. (For this, she won a PEPPer Award.)

She is currently working on her new book, Transformational Healing Focus Series, Transform Your Weight.

Please call 347.327.9995 tomorrow morning 6/23/09 between 10am-11 am U.S. CDT to join Jamie and I live on the air with your questions and personal stories.
