From My Mama's Kitchen Talk Radio

From My Mama’s Kitchen Talk Radio is based on the book - From My Mama’s Kitchen – “food for the soul, recipes for living” by Johnny Tan. Originally intended as a cookbook to preserve his moms’ recipes, transpires into a motherly love-inspired book about his personal relationships with his adopted mom in Malaysia and with eight other wonderful women whom he refers to as “mom” in the United States. Over the years, his mothers were his “team of counselors”who provided him unconditional motherly-love. They were always available whenever he needed them – to talk, get some advice or just to sound off. This weekly talk show hosted by the author, Johnny Tan, pays tribute and honors his moms and moms everywhere for their timeless loving wisdom, spiritual and inspirational contribution in making a positive difference in the lives of their children and their loved ones. It provides a platform for everyone to share their own experiences of “motherly love” on-air with other listeners. With the support of special guests, Johnny’s vision and mission is to educate, entertain, and inspire everyone the significant role mothers’ play in our daily lives and to bring “motherly love” to center stage. What I have learned from my 9 moms – Respect the past, because it is a classroom for lessons learned. Be prepared for the future, because it is my destiny. Always live in the now, because every moment is a memorable experience. – Johnny Tan. The Rewards of Adoption from a Parent and Child perspectives!

As we approach Mother's Day 2009, please join me and my special guest Rebecca Utley, Director of Community Relations, Hope Cottage Pregnancy and Adoption Center on Tuesday April 28th from 10-11 am CST for a frank discussion about the Rewards of Adoption from a Parent and Child perspectives.

Hope Cottage Pregnancy and Adoption Center is the oldest non-sectarian , nonprofit, United Way-affiliated adoption center in Dallas. It began in 1918 with the vision of one woman, Emma Wylie Ballard, who recognized a need to provide care for Dallas's unwanted children. Since illegitimacy had such a stigma, babies were literally being abandoned in the streets. She opened a small home to accept the babies, naming it Hope Cottage, and hired women to care for them.

It is from these humble roots that the Center began to grow and flourish, subsequently becoming an adoption agency, placing children in homes, ensuring their futures and strengthening the Dallas community. Along the way, Hope Cottage has passed many significant milestones.

From establishing an International Adoption Program to facilitate the adoption of children from Romania, China, India, Guatemala and El Salvador; Foster-to-Adoption program; Domestic Adoption Program – Embryo Adoption; to opening a Family Counseling and Education Center for new parents and post adoption families.

In my book From My Mama’s Kitchen –“food for the soul, recipes for living,” I wrote about a treasure trove – “Motherly Love.” It is ageless, it is universal, it transcends cultures, and most importantly, it is unconditional.

Whether you live in Asia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, or in the Americas, all moms have the same desire to share one thing with their children – to provide food for the soul, recipes for living.

Hope Cottage known for their compassionate dedication and nurturing professionalism in family well-being, has gained a national reputation for excellence.

Please call 347.327.9995 to join Rebecca and me live on the air!
