f you break down the word biography you get "bio" meaning Life and "graphy" meaning Writing. This is a perfect way to describe Black Lotus. We record or write about actual life. The name Black Lotus comes from a rare plant found in swamp-like areas or ponds in the east. The Lotus plant has had a life similar to the members of this group. Starting deep in the murky depths of urban drama, struggling to rise to the surface and rising for all to see and cherish. Black Lotus consists of three members, Bolo Gah (King Cee), Dragonfly (Born Wise), and Long Axe (Tarkwan Universal). Bolo is the DJ/Producer for the group. His depth in music is not show pain and celebrate his joys. Dragon meaning a combination or variation of styles and fly meaning, well we all know what that means. The Black Lotus sound hit the scene in the early 90s as members The Beggas. During this time the 9 member entourage had been tagging the underground scene with a unique sound and stage show. Their first official release was a single called "Supernatural" that proved the members skills to be just that. Next was a compilation on the Wu Tang, Killer Bees "The Swarm" album. The song is called "On the Strength" and is opened by Long Axe and Dragonfly providing the first two verses on the song. "On the Strength" would be the last song The Beggas would do together that included Dragonfly and Long Axe. Now Black Lotus is traveling in a new direction armed with distinct sound and formidable formula for success. "We are dedicated to the music that gave us so much coming up, It helped us appreciate our generation and express our views creatively, So naturally we aim to set things right". This is the attitude Black Lotus takes toward producing good music for the young and the old listeners. Remember we are coming from the same muddy pond climbing to the surface, Everyday is a struggle; Every song is a voice to be heard. Black Lotus is writing about life, past present and future....
