The pay equity for women is still lacking immensely in the United States. It is not exactly equal pay for equal work. President Obama's signing of the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act recently failed in Congress. 

Despite the fact that women out number men in graduate degrees, women are still choosing to leave the fulltime workforce in numbers. Whether for part time, work from home or flexible scheduling, alternative options of work form women are in demand.
