5 Lessons President Obama Taught me About Weight Management

    Weight Management

President Obama’s first big victory as the new leader of the free world inspired me to think about how his straight-forward determination can be applied to your weight management plan. Read on to see exactly what I’m talking about.

#1: There Must be a Goal in Mind
When I watched President Obama address the nation last week, he made it perfectly clear that his main goal was to get this stimulus package passed. He was totally focused on that task and that task alone.

Your Take Away: Unless you have a clear goal in mind as to what you want to achieve with your weight loss plan, you will fall short. Being clear about your goal is a major part of achieving the goal itself.

#2: The Reason Behind the Goal Has to Have Substantial Consequences if it isn’t Met
Mr. Obama stated that if we did not pass the stimulus plan, our country would suffer an economic crisis worse than any we have ever seen. That’s a pretty strong reason to make sure that he achieved his goal.

Your Take Away: Just having a goal is NOT enough. There must be a compelling reason for you to achieve that goal and serious consequences if you do not. Otherwise, your goal becomes another item on the “To Do” list.

#3: He Accepted the Fact that the Path to Passing the Stimulus Plan Would Not Be Easy
From the beginning, Mr. Obama acknowledged that getting the stimulus plan passed would take a lot of hard work and strategy on his part and he was ready for the challenge.

Your Take Away: If setting a goal, making a plan and sticking with it were easy, there wouldn’t be over 30,000 diets registered with the FDA and over 34 million people listed as obese. Most likely, this isn’t your first attempt at losing weight, but it can be your last one at keeping it off. Realize that the journey won’t be easy, but when you reach the end, it will be so worth it. Then you can reflect on your hard work to keep you pumped so the weight doesn’t come back.

#4: He Is Wise Enough to Accept Help
He knew that he couldn’t do it on his own. He enlisted the help of all those who put him in office to back him and support him in his effort.

Your Take Away: You don’t have to go on this journey along, there is help. Find a buddy, friend or family member to accompany you and work with you on your weight loss journey. Or hire a professional. Personal trainers, nutritionists, wellness specialists and dieticians are all here to help you to achieve your goal of losing weight and getting healthy.

#5: You Have to Believe that You Can Do This!
Sure, now you can say that Mr. Obama was certain that he could accomplish his goal, because he did. But what about in the beginning, when he first put the plan out there? He was sure at that time too. He had to be, his success depended on him being confident that he could accomplish his goal.

Your Take Away: You must take that same confident swagger and apply it to your weight loss and weight management plan. No one but you can complete this journey and you have to do it for yourself. If you just believe that you can do it, you certainly will.

But if you find that you can’t do it alone, I am here to help. If you're ready to talk with me about how I can help you to lose the weight for good and get the body you've always dreamed of, Click Here now.
