Shannon says "I am 51 years old, mother of 4 and grandmother of 10. I gained a lot of weight during my last pregnancy 24 years ago and then had a hysterectomy less than two years after she was born and the weight never left me. I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis, which puts my body into hypothyroid or slow thyroid. Consequently, I put on even more weight with this disease. I was just accepting that I was going to be overweight because everything I read said people with this disease have a very difficult time ever losing weight.
I was working as a medical transcriptionist and decided after typing medical reports of all these people with health problems that I did not want to end of being one of them. I started my weight loss journey October 2011.
