Corey and Steve invite you to tune in as they tackle some of the week's big topics in life and sport. This week we are honored to have as our special guest, true NFL Legend, George Taliaferro. As an 8 year old boy, George dreamed of playing in the NFL for the Chicago Bears. The problem was that the year was 1935, and the NFL did not allow African Americans to play. Despite this obvious challenge, George took his dream to Indiana University where he became a three-time All-American leading Indiana to its only undefeated Big10 championship. In 1949, George became the first African American selected in the NFL draft when George Halas's Chicago Bears selected him in the 13th round. Despite having the opportunity to fully realize his dream and make NFL history, George honored a prior commitment he had made to the Los Angeles Dons of the All-America Conference before joining the NFL's New York Yanks. George played 7 different positions and was All-Pro in 1951, '52, and '53. First & Life would like to honor George for his courage, commitment, and integrity, celebrate his role in integrating the NFL, and remember this country's not-so-proud history. Please join us and share your thoughts, ideas, and perspectives -- live on First & LIfe!
