    What is a Talebearer?

    Talebearer

What is a talebearer? One who spreads malicious stories or gossip.

To be a tale-bearer, and to sow discord among neighbors, is as bad an office as a man can put himself into.

Leviticus 19:16 Thou shalt not go up and down as a tale-bearer among thy people; neither shalt thou stand against the blood of thy neighbor; I am the LORD.

(NASB) 'You shall not go about as a slanderer among your people, and you are not to act against the life of your neighbor; I am the LORD.

As a slanderer, backbiter, or quarrel picker.

Proverbs 11:13 He that goeth about as a tale-bearer revealeth secrets; But he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth a matter.

    How’s your spirit? Watch Out!

(GWT) Whoever gossips gives away secrets, but whoever is trustworthy in spirit can keep a secret.

(MHC). A faithful man will not disclose what he is trusted with, unless the honour of God and the real good of society require it.

Proverbs 16:28 A froward man sendeth forth contention, A tale-bearer is separating a familiar friend.

(BIBE) A man of twisted purposes is a cause of fighting everywhere: and he who says evil secretly makes trouble between friends.

    ·        Are your purposes twisted? This is a question we all must ask ourselves. It is to each individual to get it right. Remember, the same word we reject will be the same word that comes back to judge us. “Watch Out”!

Proverbs 18:8 The words of a tale-bearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.

*The words of a talebearer, gossiper, and backbiters are soon believed and enter most deeply. Watch Out! What you measure out will be measure back to you.

How base are those that sow contention! And what fatal effects may be expected from small beginnings of jealousy

Proverbs 20:19 He who goes about as a tale-bearer reveals secrets; therefore don't keep company with him who opens wide his lips.

Whoever goes around as a gossip tells secrets. Do not associate with a person whose mouth is always open.

(JFBC) Those who love to tell news will hardly keep secrets.

Proverbs 13:3 The one who guards his mouth preserves his life; the one who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.

Proverbs 26:20 Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no tale-bearer, the strife ceaseth.

(GWT) Without wood a fire goes out, and without gossip a quarrel dies down

Contention heats the spirit, and puts families and societies into a flame. And that fire is commonly kindled and kept burning by whisperers and backbiters. How many times do we see people continuously put wood on a fire? Are you the wood carrier that keeps the fire burning? Watch Out!

Proverbs 26:22 The words of a tale-bearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.
The words of a gossip are swallowed greedily, and they go down into a person's innermost being

***People of God if we find ourselves guilty of this sin we must repent.
God is concern about every area of our lives. There is no area left untouched by the word of God. God hates sin and we must hate what God hate and love what God loves. Let's not make excuses to why we sin.
Let's get it right according to the word of God and keep it right

*Repentance is still the order of the day.
