This week on the BIG show, we'll sit down with British film director, Menelik Shabazz who will discuss his latest project, the documentary, The Story of Lover's Rock.  Often dubbed "romantic reggae," Lovers Rock is a uniquely black British sound that developed in the late 1970s and 80s against a backdrop of riots, racial tension and sound systems. Lovers Rock allowed young people to experience intimacy and healing through dance- known as 'scrubbing'- at parties and clubs. This dance provided a coping mechanism for what was happening on the streets. Plus, we'll recap the Spring Movie season and review the latest films including Pain and Game and The Big Wedding. We'll have all that and more on Episode 183 on Keeping It Reel with FilmGordon, this Thursday afternoon beginning at 1pm on BlogTalkRadio.com.
