Since the release of his debut film in 2005, no Black filmmaker has elicited more conversation than Tyler Perry. Whether it is the images from his ten films, two TV series or his recent exploration into leading man status, Perry has mined his personal early personal tragedy into becoming one the industry's most powerful producers.
Eight national prominent African-American critics including Omar Moore (The Popcorn Reel), Wilson Morales (BlackFilm), Daryle Lockhart (The Black Box Office), author Donna Britt, Shawn Edwards (FOX 4-Kansas City), Esther Iverem (SeeingBlack), Rebecca Theodore-Vachon (The Urban Daily) and Joe Barber (WTOP-FM) will join Keeping It Reel host Tim Gordon to examine Perry's impact and what it means for the future of African-American cinema during this special town hall meeting-style show.
