Film Geek Central

Attention, film geeks! You know who you are! Film Geek Central is a new spin on the old review show. Scott Davis and Austin Kennedy have been published in various media outlets. Each of them also comes to the forefront with some knowledge about what it takes to make a great film, without the prejudice that weighs most shows down. More than anything, Film Geek Central is a new podcast, by film geeks and for film geeks.

Show Notes

Photobucket

Every week, Scott Davis and Austin Kennedy check out the latest, but not always the greatest films in the multiplexes. Everything from the biggest blockbusters, to the smallest indie films to the latest foreign films. Scott and Austin are film geeks by birth, keeping a critical eye on things, but bringing a lot of humor and energy to the proceedings as well. They don't always agree, but it's always entertaining.

    Date / Time:

FUNNY PEOPLE, 500 DAYS OF SUMMER, ALIENS IN THE ATTIC, THE COLLECTOR, IN THE LOOP

What? Just because there are no giant explosions and $200 million epics mean you don't go to the movies anymore? Too bad for you, because this is one of the most interesting weeks at the movies in a while. And over at Film Geek Central, we cover it all.

First up is Judd Apatow's third film, the dramatic comedy FUNNY PEOPLE starring Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen. Apatow has been everywhere recently, so much so that it's easy to forget this is only his third film, following up THE 40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN and KNOCKED UP.

One of our most awaited films of the year comes to our neck of the woods (finally). We take a look at Joseph Gordon Levitt and Zooey Deschanel in the anti-romantic comedy, (500) DAYS OF SUMMER. Or is it a romantic comedy? They say it's not a love story, but a story about love. What's that supposed to mean? Probably that its different and (hopefully) more honest than your typical romantic comedy. You have to tune in to find out.

Next, a group of kids tries to stop the beginnings of a pint-sized alien invasion that starts out in their own home in ALIENS IN THE ATTIC. This one also features Doris Roberts doing bullet-time kung fu. So, there's that.

The people who brought you the last few SAW movies are back with THE COLLECTOR. This one is a down and dirty horror film from the people who gave us some of the most recent SAW films.

Finally, we'll look at the British film, IN THE LOOP. This is a political satire in which government underlings try to stop the U.S. president and the U.K. Prime Minister from going through with the war they're just itching to wage.

We'll also be looking at DVD releases, including FAST & FURIOUS, BIG MAN JAPAN and AN AMERICAN AFFAIR.

The whole thing goes down Sunday night at 8:00 PM Eastern/7:00 PM Central at Film Geek Central.

You can also subscribe to our podcast every week by checking us out on iTunes.
