Film Geek Central

Attention, film geeks! You know who you are! Film Geek Central is a new spin on the old review show. Scott Davis and Austin Kennedy have been published in various media outlets. Each of them also comes to the forefront with some knowledge about what it takes to make a great film, without the prejudice that weighs most shows down. More than anything, Film Geek Central is a new podcast, by film geeks and for film geeks.

Show Notes

Photobucket

Every week, Scott Davis and Austin Kennedy check out the latest, but not always the greatest films in the multiplexes. Everything from the biggest blockbusters, to the smallest indie films to the latest foreign films. Scott and Austin are film geeks by birth, keeping a critical eye on things, but bringing a lot of humor and energy to the proceedings as well. They don't always agree, but it's always entertaining.

    Date / Time:

    PORN AND PIRAHNA

I'm going to see if I can't just add news blurbs here and there to keep people informed about what's going on in film geekdom.

Alexander Aja (HIGH TENSION, THE HILLS HAVE EYES remake) is now into production on PIRAHNA 3-D, his remake of the 1978 Roger Corman campfest PIRAHNA. The cast is already looking impressive for a 3-D horror remake. Stars include Elizabeth Shue, Jerry O'Connell and Richard Dreyfuss.

Add another name to the list - Riley Steele. Steele is an adult actress who is making the jump into mainstream cinema with this film. She hasn't been at it for long, only appearing in five films within the last year or so. Still, those five films are all high-profile films from Digital Sin, where it appears she has a contract. Every inch of Riley can be seen in such films as PIRATES II and NURSES. No word on whether this is a principal role or whether she just gets chewed up in the first ten minutes. Hmm, I'm drawing a blank. What does she look like again?

    Oh. Oh my.

Here at Film Geek Central, we have no idea if Steele is up to the acting challenge. But rest assured we'll be researching all her previous roles, frame by frame, with brief naps and orange juice breaks in between.

Steele joins the ranks of other adult stars who have been featured in mainstream roles - including Marilyn Chambers, Traci Lords, Ginger Lynn, Jenna Jameson, Katie Gold and others. Currently, Sasha Grey (who also co-starred in PIRATES II, incidentally) is getting good notices for her starring role in Steven Soderbergh's THE GIRLFRIEND EXPERIENCE.
